Harris On MSNBC: The Number of Innocents Killed in Gaza is Unconscionable

During an interview with Al Sharpton on MSNBC, Vice President Kamala Harris expressed her concern about the escalating violence in Gaza, saying, “the number of innocent Palestinians who have been killed in Gaza is really unconscionable and we have to be honest about that.”

She also reiterated her support for Israel’s right to defend itself, adding, “At the same time, I will always stand in terms of Israel’s right to defend itself and we need this war to end.”

When asked about the recent killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar by Israel, in response to his role in orchestrating the October 7, 2023, terrorist attacks, Harris emphasized the need to end the conflict and free the hostages. “It’s going to be hard, it’s going to be difficult, but we have got to get this war over with. We got to get the hostages out, we need the war to end. In fact, we’re sending [Secretary of State Antony] Blinken out to go and meet with the parties there,” she told Sharpton.

Harris went on to acknowledge that Sinwar’s death had removed a major obstacle, stating, “The death of Sinwar has removed an obstacle, so we’ve got to work at it and work at it through diplomatic means.”

As a key figure in the Democratic Party and the current Vice President, Harris has consistently called for de-escalation in the Middle East, advocating for both a ceasefire and the release of hostages in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

The U.S. government has been actively promoting a ceasefire and hostage exchange framework, originally outlined by President Joe Biden in May. However, Hamas has repeatedly turned down every proposal put forth by American officials.

Just last month, Hamas claimed that its negotiators had reiterated their willingness to agree to an “immediate” ceasefire in Gaza based on an earlier U.S. proposal, stating that they were prepared to move forward without any additional stipulations from other parties.

Harris’ interview followed a controversial episode at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. During a speech she gave there, a heckler accused her of supporting Israel’s actions, calling it “genocide.” The confrontation occurred last Thursday, with a pro-Hamas student shouting accusations that the U.S. had invested “billions of dollars in genocide.”

After the student was removed, Harris seemed to acknowledge the validity of the issue, telling the audience that the concern “was real.”

A representative from Harris’ campaign later clarified the situation, saying, “That is not the view of the Biden-Harris Administration or the Vice President.”

Families of Hostages File Complaint Over False Rescue Report

Families of the hostages have lodged a formal complaint with the Israel Police, accusing certain individuals of spreading false information about the hostages’ status.

Speaking to I24NEWS, one individual involved in spreading the rumor expressed deep regret. He explained that he had unknowingly shared the falsehood after hearing it from another source, unaware that it was untrue.

The complaint filed by the families details: “Last Shabbos, 19.10, we became aware of widespread distribution of messages containing false and extremely distressing information regarding a supposed operation in which hostages were allegedly located, both alive and dead.”

It further elaborates: “In those numerous messages, fabricated details were included, such as ’30 families of hostages were instructed to visit various hospitals in the country.’ These misleading reports were spread broadly in different forms via social media platforms like TikTok, Telegram, and WhatsApp. They even reached the families whose loved ones were named in the reports, with incorrect information about whether they were alive or dead.”

The complaint emphasizes: “The circulation of these messages persisted even after the IDF Spokesman’s Office refuted the claims and urged people to stop sharing them. Despite the multiple denials issued by the IDF, the families, who have been waiting over a year for any news about their loved ones, were thrown into emotional turmoil. Their names were mentioned in the false reports, and they have had to endure countless inquiries, constantly verifying the truth behind these reports.”

Hezbollah Hid Hundreds of Millions Under Beirut Hospital

Israel’s military has accused Hezbollah of hiding hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and gold beneath a hospital in Beirut. Despite targeting the group’s financial infrastructure, the military emphasized that it has no plans to attack the medical facility.

Fadi Alameh, a Lebanese lawmaker from the Shi’ite Amal Movement and the head of the hospital in question, Al-Sahel, strongly denied Israel’s allegations. He described the claims as “false and slanderous,” and urged the Lebanese Army to inspect the premises, which he said only contained medical patients, operating rooms, and a morgue. Alameh also confirmed that the hospital was being evacuated. Israel’s military reiterated that it would not target the hospital.

Reuters was unable to independently corroborate the information shared by the Israeli military’s chief spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari. According to Hagari, the intelligence supporting these claims has been gathered by Israel over several years.

In a broadcasted address, Hagari explained that Hezbollah’s former leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed by Israel last month, had constructed the bunker for long-term occupation. “There are hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and gold inside the bunker right now. I’m calling on the Lebanese government, Lebanese authorities, and the international organizations — don’t allow Hezbollah to use the money for terror and to attack Israel,” Hagari urged.

He emphasized that while the Israeli air force is monitoring the location, “we will not strike the hospital itself,” Hagari stated.

Additionally, Israeli Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi informed troops in Lebanon that airstrikes had targeted around 30 locations tied to Al-Qard al-Hassan, which Israel identifies as Hezbollah’s financial branch. Hagari added that further strikes on Hezbollah’s financial assets would continue.

Hamas Moving Towards Rule By Committee After Sinwar’s Death

On Monday, two sources within Hamas revealed that the group is moving toward forming a ruling committee based in Doha instead of naming a single successor to Yahya Sinwar, who was recently killed by Israel.

A knowledgeable source explained to AFP, “The Hamas leadership’s approach is not to appoint a successor to the late chief, the martyr Yahya Sinwar, until their next elections” planned for March, “if conditions permit.”

According to this source, a five-member committee, established in August after the death of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, will take charge of the organization’s leadership.

The committee, which was initially created to facilitate decision-making, had been helping with communication challenges while Sinwar was still in Gaza before his elimination.

Sinwar had served as Hamas’ Gaza leader since 2017 and later assumed leadership of the entire organization following the assassination of Haniyeh in July.

The same source shared that the committee includes representatives from both Palestinian Authority-administered territories and the diaspora. It is composed of Khalil al-Hayya representing Gaza, Zaher Jabarin for Judea and Samaria, and Khaled Mashaal representing Palestinian Arabs abroad.

Additionally, the committee features Mohammed Darwish, the head of Hamas’ Shura advisory council, and the political bureau’s secretary, whose identity remains undisclosed for security reasons.

As of now, all members of this ruling committee are stationed in Qatar.

A second source confirmed that Hamas had debated internally whether to appoint a new political chief without disclosing their identity publicly. However, the leadership ultimately decided to govern collectively through the established committee.

Laughing Harris Denies Eating ‘Gummies’ When Talking About Election Anxiety

Vice President Kamala Harris jokingly denied eating “gummies” at a campaign event in Michigan, while giving supporters a rare glimpse at how the Democratic nominee deals with the stress of the campaign trail.

“Everybody I talk to says ‘I have to turn off the news, I can‘t read anything, I’m meditating, I’m doing yoga, I’m so anxious I just don’t even know, I’m eating gummies, all kinds of things,’” moderator Maria Shriver said. “I’m not eating gummies,” Harris immediately replied before breaking out in laughter.

Marijuana is legal in Michigan, and Harris came out in support of legalizing the drug nationally last week. Leading up to her 2020 presidential campaign, Harris told The Breakfast Club that she smoked marijuana in college. But Harris did admit she was feeling the pressure of the ongoing campaign. “I wake up in the middle of the night usually these days, just to be honest with you,” the vice president admitted to the audience of supporters.

Rocket Explodes In Shomron: 20 Rockets Launched in Barrage On Northern and Central Israel

Sirens blared on Tuesday morning across various regions of central Israel and Samaria, with residents in Tel Aviv and Ra’anana reporting the sound of explosions.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that five rockets had been launched from Lebanon, targeting central Israel. While most were intercepted, one projectile did land in an open area. Hezbollah later claimed responsibility for the attack, stating the missiles were aimed at the IDF’s 8200 Intelligence Unit Base.

According to the IDF, more sirens were heard between 07:43 and 07:45 in the Upper Galilee and northern Golan Heights. Around 15 rockets were identified as coming from Lebanon. Some were intercepted, while the rest landed in open areas.

At this time, the IDF has not reported any injuries from the attacks.

Earlier in the morning, just before 7:00 a.m., sirens went off in western Samaria and Modi’in Illit. The IDF confirmed that one missile had crossed from Lebanon and landed in an open area within Israeli territory.

In the early hours of the day, just before 5:00 a.m., sirens were also triggered in Haifa and the surrounding region.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit revealed that approximately five rockets were launched from Lebanon toward Haifa. These were intercepted by the Israel Air Force (IAF), and no injuries were reported.

However, the Israel Police noted that officers and bomb disposal experts are actively searching for potential locations where fragments from intercepted rockets may have fallen.

The police also reported that debris from the intercepted missiles was found in the Druze villages of Isfiya and Daliyat al-Karmel, both near Haifa. One building in the area sustained minor damage.

Earlier in the night, alarms were triggered in the Upper Galilee and northern Golan Heights due to suspicions of an aerial infiltration.

The IDF stated that after sirens rang out at 12:26 a.m. in the Upper Galilee, the IAF intercepted an aerial threat crossing from Lebanon into Israeli airspace.

Alarms went off again due to the potential fall of debris from the intercepted target.

Later, between 12:51 a.m. and 12:52 a.m., more sirens were heard in the northern Golan Heights. The IDF confirmed that another aerial target had entered from the east. This object was tracked by the IAF and eventually fell in an open area.

There were no reported injuries from this incident either.

On Monday afternoon, sirens were heard in Haifa, the Krayot region, and throughout the Galilee, with multiple launches from Lebanon detected in these areas.

In a statement, the IDF confirmed that “following the sirens that were heard in various parts of the Galilee, Haifa Bay, Wadi Ara, and HaAmakim, the IAF successfully intercepted a rocket that had crossed into Israeli airspace from Lebanon.”

A foreign worker in his 40s sustained minor injuries after falling during the rocket barrage from Lebanon. He was treated and evacuated by Magen David Adom paramedics to Ziv Hospital in Tzfas.

Massive Migrant Caravan Heading to US Southern Border Ahead of Presidential Election

A massive caravan of 2,500 migrants departed Tapachula, Chiapas, in southern Mexico on Sunday, heading north towards the US southern border ahead of the upcoming Presidential election.

According to the AP, this is the third and largest caravan since the new Mexican President, Claudia Sheinbaum, was sworn into office earlier in October.  So far in office, President Sheinbaum has made no changes to immigration policy.

A week ago, another caravan, of around 1,000 people, also departed for the border ahead of the upcoming election.

Customs and Border Patrol are reportedly aware of the new caravan.

Border patrol can deport those who enter the country illegally between points of entry due to title 8.  However, migrants from “special interest countries” cannot be deported.

According to Breitbart’s Randy Clark said: “As election day nears, the source within CBP, not authorized to speak to the media, says a noticeable increase in migrants, including Special Interest Aliens and unaccompanied migrant children, has appeared in the small border town in recent weeks.”

Immigration has played a key role in this campaign season, with former President Trump suggesting voters may even prioritize immigration ahead of economic issues when casting their ballots.  Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris has attempted to display a tough on migrants approach on the campaign trail.

Blinken Set to Visit Israel for 11th Time Since Oct. 7

During a trip to the Middle East, including Israel, this week, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will “discuss the importance of bringing the war in Gaza to an end, securing the release of all hostages and alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people,” the U.S. State Department said.

Foggy Bottom said Blinken’s travels in the region will extend from Monday to Friday. During the State Department’s press briefing on Monday, Vedant Patel, the department’s principal deputy spokesman, told reporters that Blinken “will be wheels up later this afternoon, heading to Israel and other countries in the Middle East.”

“In Israel, the secretary will reaffirm the United States ironclad commitment to Israel’s security and emphasize advancing enduring peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians alike,” Patel said.

Throughout his trip, Blinken will also “continue discussions with counterparts on post-conflict period planning and emphasize the need to chart a new path forward that enables Palestinians to rebuild their lives and realize their aspirations free from Hamas’s tyranny,” Patel added. “The secretary will also underscore that additional food, medicine and other urgently needed humanitarian aid must be delivered to civilians in Gaza.”

The U.S. secretary will also address “the need to reach a diplomatic resolution in the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah that fully implements U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701 and allows civilians on both sides of the Blue Line to return to their homes,” Patel said. “Lastly, he will reaffirm the U.S. commitment to work with partners across the region to de-escalate tensions and providing lasting stability.”

Patel told Associated Press diplomatic writer Matt Lee, “at this point, we’ll—we can certainly share that he will be going to Israel, but additional stops are to be announced.”

According to the State Department, Blinken is scheduled on Tuesday afternoon to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and separately with Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer in Jerusalem. On Tuesday evening, Blinken is slated to meet in Tel Aviv separately with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

Richard Goldberg, a senior advisor at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told JNS that the secretary’s trip is essentially political theater.

“Blinken is a lame duck secretary of state, speaking for a lame duck president two weeks before an election, which makes his influence extraordinarily limited, as leaders wait to see who’s going to be president in January,” he said. “His trip is a combination of domestic political management and Hail Mary policymaking by a dying administration.”

This will be the 11th time since the Israel-Hamas war that Blinken has visited the Middle East, the Associated Press reported.

“Will this visit be more successful than the 10 previous ones since Oct. 7?” wrote Massoud Maalouf, a former Lebanese ambassador.

“How about alleviating the suffering of the Israeli people who continue to get killed and maimed by Khamenei-backed terrorists?” wrote Mark Dubowitz, CEO of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. “I lost a good friend yesterday, a Druze Arab hero, who died defending Israel from Khamenei’s death cult.”

World Leaders ‘Strongly Condemn’ Hezbollah Attempt to Assassinate Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, who turned 75 on Monday, received birthday greetings from French President Emmanuel Macron, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, according to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and five members of the U.S. Congress, all of whom met with Netanyahu on Monday, extended in-person birthday wishes, according to Netanyahu’s office.

Macron and Mitsotakis also told Netanyahu that they “strongly condemn the attempt on his life,” per an Israeli readout of their call. “Former U.S. President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed their shock to the prime minister over the attack against him,” Netanyahu’s office added. “U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) also called the prime minister and issued a special condemnation.”

Netanyahu said on Saturday night that Hezbollah made a “grave mistake” attacking his home in Caesarea, in central Israel on the Mediterranean coast, with a drone.

“Thank you to the many who sent me birthday wishes. You warmed my heart,” Netanyahu stated on Monday.

The Israeli premier quoted remarks made 14 years ago by his father—historian and longtime professor Benzion Netanyahu—when the elder Netanyahu turned 100, which he said “are still true today.”

“I am much moved by the fact that you have gathered to express your well wishes on my birthday. You have said many fine things that stirred my heart. But since time is short, I will limit my remarks to one general comment: The existence of the Jewish people is put into question by the threats to annihilate us which are openly declared by our enemies,” Netanyahu said, quoting his father.

“On the one side, Iran vows that soon Zionism will be destroyed. On the other, the people of Israel are showing the world how a nation should behave when faced with an existential threat: stare unflinchingly at the danger, calmly consider what needs to be done and what can be done and be ready to enter the fray when the chances of success are reasonable,” he added. “A powerful stance requires tremendous inner strength. The people of Israel show today that they have such strength, and this leads to my certain belief that our people will roll back this danger to its existence.”

‘Israel Doesn’t Trust Us,’ Pompeo Says after Leak

Mike Pompeo, a former U.S. secretary of state and former CIA director, urged attendees on a Republican Jewish Coalition call to vote for former President Donald Trump—the current GOP presidential candidate—and said the Jewish state suspects its American counterparts after U.S. officials leaked Israeli intelligence documents about Iran to the press.

“They don’t trust us,” Pompeo said. “Israel has to hide information from our intelligence committee.” (Washington is investigating the incident.)

Pompeo also criticized the Biden administration for discouraging Israel from attacking Iran’s nuclear capabilities, noting that a nuclear Iran could exert power in troubling ways.

“If this was a nuclear-armed Iran, this would be very different, and they would be exercising that leverage,” he said.

The former U.S. official said that it is important to rely on states in the region that are also concerned about Iran.

“The Gulf Arab states know the threat doesn’t come from Jerusalem,” he said. “It comes from Tehran.”

He added that he is “deeply positive” about the region after the 2020 Abraham Accords.

Norm Coleman, a former U.S. senator and national chairman of the RJC’s board, moderated the event.

“This is the most high-stakes election of our lifetimes,” Matt Brooks, CEO of the RJC, said on the call. “Fifteen days. Let’s leave nothing on the table.”

Bibi’s Birthday Warning To Iran: ‘Our People Will Repel Danger Threatening Their Existence’

On the evening of his birthday, Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu issued a stern warning to Iran.

Quoting his late father, Professor Bentzion Netanyahu, a historian, Netanyahu said, “Today, the people of Israel are showing the world how a nation should behave when faced with an existential threat. To face the danger eye to eye, calmly consider what must be done and what can be done, and be ready to enter the fray as soon as the chances of success seem reasonable.”

The Prime Minister continued by quoting his father’s words: “Today the people of Israel are revealing to the world that they have the power of faith, and this includes my unreserved faith that our people will repel the danger that threatens their existence.”

Netanyahu then repeated his father’s statement: “With this expression of faith, I conclude my remarks.” The Prime Minister concluded, “With this expression of faith, I also end my remarks.”

The Prime Minister’s Office later announced that French President Emmanuel Macron and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis both called Netanyahu earlier today to wish him a happy birthday and strongly denounce the assassination attempt on his life.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who met with Netanyahu in Yerushalayim today, along with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, sent their greetings. Additionally, five members of the U.S. Congress who met with the Prime Minister also conveyed special messages of support.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed their shock and solidarity with Netanyahu over the attack. U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson also called the Prime Minister to offer his strong condemnation.

Housing Minister Goldknopf: ‘This Is The Minimum – We’re Demanding What We Deserve’

On Monday, Construction and Housing Minister Yitzchok Goldknopf addressed the ongoing debates surrounding the Draft Law, expressing his belief that young charedi men should be granted an exemption from military service.

While visiting the sukkah of Religious Affairs Minister Michael Malkieli (Shas), where Kol Chai Radio was broadcasting, Goldknopf remarked, “They do not like it when I say what we have done, what we have given, and that we want the Draft Law and the minimum that is written [in the coalition agreements].”

He continued, “I want the nation of Israel to know that we are united, we help each other. We sit in the government, we sit in the coalition, and we give our part – and we want, one time, to know that we will also receive our part – what we deserve as partners. There is a large plate, from which everyone can take what he needs.”

In a conversation with Makor Rishon, Goldknopf firmly stated, “Without any doubt, the Draft Law will pass before the budget is approved by the government. If it does not happen, we will not be in the government. They tricked us. We will not be in a government without a Draft Law, when we are deserters and they strip us of everything.”

When questioned about the challenge of passing a law that exempts young haredim from military service at a time of soldier shortages, Goldknopf responded, “The Public Diplomacy Ministry can explain that. I need the Draft Law. They can draft the charedim who are not learning. This law does not create divisions, it unites all of Israel. Each person is responsible for the other – one learns, and one enlists.”

He also emphasized that the contributions of charedi society are comparable to those of the wider population, saying, “Take into account that we need to be Torah learners and also to enlist – you cannot place everything on us.”

Seven Israelis Worked As Iranian Agents During The War, The Target: Sensitive IDF Bases

The Rishon Letzion Magistrates Court has authorized the publication of information regarding a prosecutor’s statement filed by the State Prosecution against seven Jewish individuals from Haifa and northern Israel. Among the suspects are an IAF deserter and two minors, who are accused of collaborating with an Iranian agent and performing various assignments on their behalf.

The individuals are allegedly involved in tasks such as photographing and gathering intelligence on IDF bases and facilities, including the Nevatim and Ramat David Airbases, the Kirya in Tel Aviv, Iron Dome batteries, and other strategic sites. They were reportedly also given maps of sensitive locations, including the Golani Training Base.

The accused are Azis Nisnov, Alexander Sadikov, Yigal Nisan, Vyacheslav Gushchin, Ivgeni Yupa, along with two minors whose identities remain undisclosed. The prosecutor is expected to file formal charges against them on Friday at the Haifa District Court, accusing them of committing serious security-related offenses.

The State Prosecutor’s Office described this as one of the most significant cases in recent years, although Israel has previously apprehended Russian espionage networks. The investigation has been under close supervision for several weeks by key figures including Atty. Shelley Zeevi-Barzilai, head of the security team at the Haifa District Prosecutor’s Office, Atty. Einav Itsko-Gold, and Deputy State Prosecutor for Special Matters, Alon Altman.

Details currently available reveal that for more than two years, the suspects were involved in a series of activities directed by Iranian intelligence operatives. They allegedly worked under the guidance of two Iranian agents who were in contact with them and tasked with recruiting Israeli citizens.

The suspects are believed to have received substantial payments, amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars, paid via cryptocurrency and other means, for executing their assignments.

Some of the suspects were involved in the operations for over two years, and all of them are accused of working for the Iranian agents during a period when Israel was engaged in a multi-front struggle against Iranian-backed forces.

The operation included various intelligence-gathering activities, such as photographing military sites and other critical infrastructure, as well as other forms of reconnaissance.

As previously noted, the prosecution plans to file an indictment against the seven suspects and will seek their detention until the conclusion of the judicial process.

This case adds to a growing list of similar espionage-related incidents reported in recent weeks.

UN Report Accuses Israel of Starvation in Gaza, Ignores Hostages

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, filed a formal complaint with the UN Secretary-General following the release of a report on the ‘Right to Food,’ which accuses Israel of perpetrating genocide through the act of starvation.

“This appalling report is nothing more than an effort to distort the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and incite hatred against Israel,” said Danon. “Rather than addressing broader trends related to the right to food for all, as mandated by the Human Rights Council, the report masquerades as an objective document but is, in reality, a political manifesto with the intent to distort the history of the Jewish people and Israel while advancing anti-Semitic rhetoric.”

Danon further remarked, “Moreover, the report completely overlooks the starvation of the hostages still being held by Hamas and neglects to hold the terrorist group accountable for the mishandling and theft of humanitarian aid in Gaza.”

The Ambassador wrapped up his complaint by urging the Secretary-General to withdraw the report from the General Assembly and to publicly denounce the anti-Semitic illustrations included in the document. “It is disgraceful that such a report was disseminated to the General Assembly under your authority.”

IDF Reveals: Nasrallah’s Money Bunker Beneath Al-Sahel Hospital

On Monday evening, the IDF released evidence revealing that former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah once utilized a bunker located beneath Beirut’s Al-Sahel Hospital. This underground facility functioned as a key financial hub for the Hezbollah terrorist group.

“This bunker below the Al-Sahel Hospital in Beirut was used for many years by the former leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, as his emergency bunker,” the IDF disclosed.

According to the military, “The bunker currently serves as Hezbollah’s central financial facility, where Hezbollah stores the majority of its money – money that was stolen from Lebanese civilians and is used for terrorist activities.”

Later that evening, IDF Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari confirmed that the IAF conducted an airstrike in Damascus earlier in the day, killing Hezbollah’s chief financial officer. This official was in charge of funneling funds from Iran to Hezbollah.

Report: Harris Campaign Says Kamala Won’t Support Expanding Fossil Fuel Drilling

First, she wanted to ban fracking. Then, she gaslighted Americans and said she’s been “clear” that she won’t ban fracking. Now, the Kamala campaign is saying there won’t be an “expansion” of fracking.

According to the Kamala Harris campaign, candidate Harris does not support expanding fossil fuel drilling; “Just to be clear, Vice President Harris hasn’t said anything that the administration hasn’t already said. She is not promoting expansion [of fossil fuel drilling]. She’s just said that they wouldn’t ban fracking,” Camila Thorndike, Harris’ climate engagement director, said in an interview with Politico.

Kamala’s campaign has struggled with messaging around fracking — and it’s an important issue in swing states like Pennsylvania. Back in 2019, Harris said she would ban fracking.

Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders recently told CNN’s Jake Tapper that Kamala is flip-flopping on issues in order to get elected.

“We have had the largest increase in domestic oil production in history because of an approach that recognizes that we cannot over-rely on foreign oil,” Harris said during the debate with former President Trump in Pennsylvania kast month.

“I am proud that as vice president over the last four years, we have invested a trillion dollars in a clean energy economy while we have also increased domestic gas production to historic levels,” Harris said.

From Fox News:

Democratic vice presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz has struck a similar tone, arguing during a recent interview with WGAL 8 that the U.S. is “producing more natural gas and more oil than at any time in our history.”

But some critics have slammed the campaign’s recent production talking point, arguing that the energy industry was able to achieve record numbers despite Biden administration policies, not because of them.

“In just four years, you and POTUS created the single worst regulatory and legislative environment in our industry’s 160-year history. You’ve put into place 250 separate actions designed to put us out of business. You wanted to put our CEOs in jail, confiscate our capital and prevent our investors from getting any return,” the U.S. Oil and Gas Association (OGA) said in a post on X last week. “And in spite of all that – we worked around you, over you and have beat your team. Now you want to take credit for what we did in spite of you. Not gonna let it happen.”

White House Says Still No Hostage Talks Despite Sinwar Killing

The United States initially portrayed the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar by Israel as a potential catalyst to revive stalled hostage negotiations. However, in the five days following Sinwar’s death, there has been no progress in restarting such talks, according to White House National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby.

“I cannot sit here today and tell you that negotiations are about to restart in Doha or Cairo or anywhere else, but we have started to begin to think about it here and have had some initial conversations with our Israeli counterparts,” Kirby stated.

Meanwhile, US special envoy Amos Hochstein is currently in Beirut, engaging in discussions with Lebanese officials. The goal of these talks, as Kirby explained, is to explore “what could be in the realm of the possible in terms of trying to find a meaningful ceasefire” between Israel and Hezbollah.
